Finance Wales invests in Oncomorph

09th April 2009 Finance Wales have agreed an investment into Oncomorph, the MRI prostate cancer technology jointly developed by Exomedica and Aberystwyth University and originating from IP jointly held with the University of East Anglia.

When complete the project will have developed a model of a statistically normal prostate together with a sufficiently large dataset of deformed prostates generated from MRI data to ensure that statistically all possible deformities and their boundaries are classified. When a patient then presents with prostate cancer their MRI data will be analysed with reference to the algorithm to ascertain where the specific boundaries of the tissue deformation lie and this will then be converted into a 3D model providing valuable clinical information on the stage of the cancer and treatment planning.
